Denver’s Hotel Teatro
Denver’s Hotel TeatroApr 6, 2012
Offers Dog Friendly Luxury Lodging

Over the past 100 years, the building that is now Hotel Teatro has been many things: a Tramway building, a University campus building and, for a few years, an abandoned relic. Thankfully for guests, the building’s newest reincarnation is the Hotel Teatro. The property was purchased in 1997 and meticulously restored to maintain the historic façade that evokes nostalgia of a bygone era while boasting a luxurious interior. Located right in downtown Denver, the hotel is across from the Denver Center for Performing Arts and within walking distance of the Colorado Convention Center, the business and historic districts, the Colorado Rockies’ Coors Field, and Larimer Square. If you are planning to visit Denver,  the Hotel Teatro will help make your stay in the Mile High City unforgettable.

Arriving at the hotel is like taking a step back in Denver history. The extensive renovation that took place in 1999 was made possible in part through a grant from the Colorado Historic Society, State Historic Fund. The exterior of the hotel maintains a charming classical renaissance revival façade, while the interior, with its tile floors, collection of artwork and theatre props, evokes a sense of theatrical glamour. It’s only fitting, since “Teatro” means theatre!

Here at the Hotel Teatro, if your favored travel partner happens to be named Rover, you are welcome to bring him along. Rover will receive the same luxury treatment as the hotel’s human guests. Upon arrival, your dog will be greeted with a basket of toys. A bellman might graciously offer to take your canine companion for a trip to the park while you check in and are shown to your room. Once inside your room, your pet will be treated to gourmet dog treats and chilled Fiji water in a silver bowl, plus special souvenir Hotel Teatro tags to ensure Rover doesn’t get lost. Throughout your pet’s stay, he or she might be treated to dog-walking services, complimentary pet-sitting, or even a special canine massage for relaxation, circulation or healing!

Now that Rover is enjoying the luxury vacation of a lifetime, what will his or her human companion be treated to? Plenty! Rooms at the Hotel Teatro are artfully decorated and stocked with all the amenities a hotel guest would expect, and more. Each of the 110 guest rooms feature 12-foot-ceilings and custom eco-friendly furniture. Once you spend a restful night on the custom-designed Simmons Beautyrest Beverly Hills Black Edition mattress with cashmere pillow top, memory foam and custom Egyptian cotton bedding, you may never want to sleep anywhere else. The room also features a comfortable sitting area, so you aren’t forced to sit on the bed,  with a great view of the Rockies or the high definition LCD television. You can kick back and relax while you enjoy complimentary Wi-fi, your choice of newspaper, Fiji water, coffee and tea. The bathroom, a sandstone-tiled oasis, features both a deep tub and a rainfall shower, a small television, and luxurious Aveda products.

If you ever decide to leave your well appointed room, you will find much to do right within Hotel Teatro. Fitness buffs will appreciate the complimentary 24-hour fitness center, although you can also take advantage of the guest access to the nearby Colorado Athletic Club where you can join a yoga or spinning class for no extra charge. Maybe you’d like to try Yoga-On-Demand? With this Hotel Teatro service, you can have a full selection of yoga materials delivered to your room! Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you have a choice of two restaurants, both featuring local chef Kevin Taylor. Restaurant Kevin Taylor offers French-American cuisine while  Prima Ristorante lets guests indulge in Italian fare. Both offer local produce when available,  seasonal items, a wine list and in-room dining. Don’t forget to take time to admire the black and white photos throughout the hotel, or browse the props and costumes on display from twenty seasons of production from the Denver Center Theatre Company.

Whether you’ve come to the Mile High City to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Colorado Rockies, attend a business event at the nearby Convention Center, or enjoy all there is to see and do in downtown Denver with your family or your furry best friend, the best part of your visit may take place within the Hotel Teatro, Denver’s only luxury boutique hotel.
