For a vacation unlike any other, one to be remembered for years to come, there are usually several factors that come in to play. Unique location, excellent service, luxurious surroundings and endless amenities are usually the factors that most people look for when looking for the vacation destination of a lifetime. Tucked away in an ecological sanctuary on Marau Penninsula, surrounded by the Atlantic Forest, and situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, Kiaroa Eco-Luxury Resort is one such destination. With a focus on both luxury and sustainability, a stay at Kiaroa will be one of the most unique vacations you are likely to experience anywhere in the world.
When planning a much-deserved getaway, you might daydream about vacationing in paradise. Once you arrive at this luxury resort in the South of Bahia, you will no longer have to wonder where paradise is located. Designed to add to the natural beauty of the surrounding land, the resort boasts 25 suites and bungalows that offer guests the ultimate in privacy and comfort, while retaining the feel of the native land and culture. Additionally, Kiaroa makes sustainability a priority in everyday operations. From the moment you enter Salvador’s International Airport, you will be made to feel like an important and respected guest. Those traveling to Kiaroa can choose to board a private flight and take a scenic ride to the resort's private landing track, the only resort in Brazil to have this option. Instead of checking in, you will instead be treated to a ritual of welcome with fresh fruits and sparkling wines. Or guests may choose the scenic drive from the airport to the resort, or the land transfer with a vehicle. From the moment of your arrival, Kiaroa’s specially trained staff will greet you with a warm and private welcome and make sure your every need is attended to.
The lodging options guests choose from include luxury and master suites and bungalows. All accommodations feature air conditioning, plasma TV’s with DVD players, a minibar and a safe. Some units feature extras, such as a deck complete with hammock, a Jacuzzi, private pools, rainforest or sea views, or private gardens. Each set of rooms are decorated for different world regions, including Bali, French Polynesia and Kenya, with interior decor done with the assistance of local artist Fabio Delduque, who uses items made by local artisans. Since the resort sits in an environmental protection area, every consideration towards green and sustainable features was made during the construction of the resort and in daily operations.
The resort’s founder, Ferruccio Bonazzi, wanted Kiaroa to be an ecological sanctuary that still allowed for the highest level of service and luxury. In order to fulfill the environmental needs that were required in order to build in the location, the resort planned their sustainable features carefully. Only 2.8% of the land in the area is built, and many considerations were made toward preservation. Careful use of water is one priority. The resort uses solar energy to heat water, water and waste are treated at on-site facilities, and washing of guest linens is outsourced to nearby Salvador in order to preserve Marau’s resources. So that local plants and animals were not disturbed, electric wire was run underground. The resort also provides for locals with their use of a carefully trained and locally hired workforce, the use of local artisans, and staff training around Ecological Awareness Programs.
While your suite or bungalow offers ample opportunity for relaxation and enjoyment of the breathtaking views, the resort also offers plenty of opportunities for you to get out and enjoy yourself within the resort and within the surrounding region. There are two resort restaurants featuring both regional and world cuisine, plus pool bars for a quick snack or refreshing drink. The resort’s spa, Armonia, offers saunas, a fitness room, massages and spa treatments, and the opportunity to relax in beautiful custom-designed surroundings. Designed to resemble a temple surrounded by forest, the spa was conceived by Italian architect Paolo Santandrea and features the use of natural lighting, and an interior that makes use of Brazilian stones and waterfalls. Guests may also choose to enjoy a game at the tennis or volleyball courts, to travel off site to the nearby town of Barra Grande, or to go on a 4x4 or boat tour of the region.
When you arrive at Kiaroa Eco-Luxury Resort, you will be surrounded by luxury and carefully preserved natural beauty. You immediately get the sense that you have arrived in paradise. From the exceptional beauty, to the delicious food, from the breathtaking sea and rainforest views to the welcoming hospitality of the staff, your stay at Kiaroa will be an experience not soon forgotten.
