Retreat, Regain and Restore

Naked Retreats, a luxury resort with two locations in Zhejiang Province, China, hopes that a stay at their beautiful and natural healing resorts will allow guests to forget about the worries and stresses of the modern world, at least for the duration of their stay. Naked Retreats believes in the philosophy that everyone needs a break from the trials and tribulations of daily life and that taking that break in surroundings that are luxurious, peaceful, and natural will help restore and rejuvenate guests, body and soul. While guests are there, they can truly be “naked,” by casting away the pressures they normally face and spending time reconnecting with who they truly are.

Naked Retreats was founded in 2007 by South African entrepreneur Grant Horsfield, together with his wife Delphine Yip, a Hong Kong native and architect, whom Grant met in Shanghai.  Each of the naked Retreat resorts were designed and built to offer the best luxury accommodations while adhering to sustainable and green principles, based on the knowledge that luxury hotels abound in China, but the market for luxury resorts had not been filled. The adherence to green principles during the building process was of high importance to the couple. In fact, the naked Stables Private Reserve is the first Chinese resort to be awarded LEED Platinum certification, an honor the couple doesn’t take lightly. Each naked Retreat location is dedicated to preserving the local environment, supporting the local people, and offering an unforgettable guest experience. From eating local foods, to enjoying refreshing outdoor activities, to relaxing in the luxurious spa facilities, there is ample opportunity during a naked Retreat vacation to discover your center, awaken your spirit, and reconnect with the natural beauty of the Earth.

A luxury resort facility is something you can find in almost any vacation destination you travel to, but a luxury resort with a high level of care and commitment for both their guests and the environment is a rare find. At its core, naked Retreats wanted to embody a “return to nature” and focused on preserving existing structures and resources. Each location also supports the local community by hiring local staff, growing or buying local foods, buying products and supplies locally if possible, and advocating for environmental awareness among staff, guests and community members. The construction of the resort facilities and the daily operations are also environmentally focused through recycling, composting, reducing energy consumption, minimizing water usage, and using environmentally friendly soaps and cleaners. Starting from scratch with the building of the resort facilities at naked Stables Private Preserve allowed the designer, co-founder Delphine Yip, and resort planners the chance to do things in an environmentally-focused manner from the beginning, and the work paid off with the highest LEED certification available.

Guests who come to naked Resorts may choose the resort because it is one of the few eco-friendly resort offerings in the area, but they’ll likely stay for the beautiful settings, luxurious surroundings, and wealth of delicious food and fun activities. Naked Resorts locations currently include naked Home Village and naked Stables Private Reserve, with more locations planned in the future. Naked Home Village features farmhouses that were persevered and updated, set within a Chinese village. Naked Stables Private Reserve is composed of newly constructed Tree Top Villas and Earth Huts, all set on 60 acres. Guests who are looking forward to relaxing and rejuvenating will find their retreat at the naked Leaf Spa & Wellness treatment huts, or enjoy private relaxation in their Jacuzzi on the sundeck. Active guests will have trouble deciding between the horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, or swimming in one of the three pools. After a busy and eventful day, enjoy a delicious meal at the Kikaboni Restaurant & Bar, the Clubhouse Bistro, or the Pool Bar & Pizzeria. Or, enjoy cooking in the kitchenette or grilling on the gas BBQ in the Treetop Villas.

Naked Retreats hopes that as a guest at the resort, you take the time to get naked on your next vacation by shedding all of the stress and worry of your everyday life. The natural surroundings and healthy, beautiful environment at naked Retreats Resort will soothe all your cares away.
